Licensed as a Group Home by the State of Nebraska in 1995, the Wesley Center Crisis Nursery is an emergency child care shelter for children up to the age of 14.

Our mission is to provide 24 hour a day emergency care to children who are unable to live in their homes. We are available year-round 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Complete care is provided for children of families in crisis, i.e., abuse or risk of abuse towards children, neglect of children, legal problems, etc.

Children are placed through the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services for up to 30 days (or longer, if negotiated), with trained staff assuming the responsibility of care providers, tutors, friends, and role models.

We are a nonprofit organization which offers emergency shelter for children ages 0-14 who have been involved in a crisis situation (such as abuse and neglect/parental drug use).

When children are removed from the home they can stay at the Crisis Nursery for up up to thirty days until a placement has been found (such as a foster home).

The Crisis Nursery contracts only with Health and Human Services for the admission of children and can serve up to 16 children at a time.

  1. The police have arrested a driver for drug/alcohol intoxication or other crimes requiring a parent(s) to be incarcerated.
  2. A child has been removed from his/her home by authorities for various reasons and they need a place for the child to stay until an appropriate placement can be made.
  3. Any crisis situation where a child might be in danger of abuse/neglect.
  1. Custodial care including sleeping quarters, balanced, nutritional meals, personal hygiene and other necessities.
  2. Opportunity to interact with other children as appropriate.
  3. Ensure the availability of on-going case work, referral for medical, dental, and psychological services.
  4. Referral to educational services if of school age.
  5. There is a staff member on sight twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.

The Crisis Nursery relies on donations to help the facility exist.

We are constantly looking for items to make a child's stay just a little easier.

We go through a lot of meats, canned food, milk, and juice.

We also accept cash donations to be used for the children in such areas as school and field trips.
